ADU Site Prep & Demolition in San Diego
Before your ADU goes up, the old garage, shed, or deck has to come down. One D-63 licensed crew tears it down, breaks out the slab, hauls every scrap, and hands your builder a clean, build-ready pad.

ADU Demolition FAQs
Common questions about tearing down structures for an ADU build in San Diego.
Do I need a permit to demolish my garage for an ADU in San Diego?
Demolishing a detached garage or any structure over 120 square feet generally requires a demolition permit in San Diego. When the teardown is part of a permitted ADU project, demolition is often handled within the project's permit package — we coordinate directly with your builder or designer so nothing falls through the cracks.
Can you remove the concrete slab, or leave it for the new foundation?
Either. Most ADU designs call for a new engineered foundation, in which case we break out the old slab and haul it away. If your builder's plan reuses or works around the existing flatwork, we demo the structure and leave the slab intact. We follow whatever your plan set specifies.
How long does garage demolition take?
Most single- and two-car garage teardowns take one to two days including full debris haul-off. Slab removal, access constraints, or attached utilities can add time — we give you a realistic timeline with your upfront quote.
How much does ADU site prep cost in San Diego?
It depends on what's coming down. Shed removals typically start at $300–$500 and deck demolitions run $400–$800. Garage teardowns are quoted by size, slab scope, and access. Every quote is free, upfront, and all-inclusive — demolition, labor, hauling, and disposal in one number.
What about utility disconnects to the garage?
Power, gas, and water serving the structure must be safely disconnected before demolition begins. We coordinate the demo date around your disconnect schedule and confirm the site is safe before the first swing.
Do you work directly with ADU builders and designers?
Yes. We subcontract demolition and site clearing for ADU builders, designers, and general contractors across San Diego County — scheduled demo windows, certificate of insurance on request, and one line item that covers teardown, haul-off, and disposal.
